Compass Cruises is a large, spacious, express trip to the Great Barrier Reef's outermost reef locations. Enjoy cruising past Upollo Cay and the famous Michaelmas Cay to Hastings reef, 60km from Cairns. Hastings Reef is 10sq km of coral gardens, renowned for tame, friendly reef sharks, Wally the Giant Wrasse and thousands of colourful tropical fish.

Passengers can snorkel and try the excitement of Scuba diving on our free 10 minute demonstration. Let our friendly, highly trained instructors and staff show you the underwater world on an introductory dive or certified diving.

The glass bottom boat departs regularly. Our 2nd location, Breaking Patches, is renowned for it's forest staghorn coral, large sea fans and black coral trees, yielding some 400 species of coral, and a vertical wall teaming with marine life.

Compass Cruises are delighted to offer Cairns’ Best value trip to the Great Barrier Reef.

Our day starts with boarding Compass at 7:45am at the Marlin Jetty in Cairns, we then cruise to the Outer Barrier Reef, where we spend 5 full hours, visiting 2 spectacular reef locations -Hastings and Breaking Patches, come face to face with schools of tropical reef fish, be amazed at the spectacular coral formations.

We offer Glass bottom boat tours with Marine naturalist reef interpretation, snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming, or simply relax on the sundeck.

We specialize in scuba diving and our friendly crew are hand picked because of their expertise in taking people diving – so whether you are a certified diver or a first time diver you can be sure you are in very capable hands.

Enjoy a delicious tropical buffet lunch as we cruise from Hastings Reef to Breaking Patches.

As we leave the Great Barrier Reef we offer Boom netting just for the fun of it.

Complimentary wine, cheese and a selection of tropical fruits are served on the journey back to Cairns.

Our ultimate goal at Compass Cruises is to give you an experience that you have been to the Great Barrier Reef with friends not a number on a manifest.
There is a $20.00 AU per person per day levy which is payable This charge is a combination of Reef Tax which is the Australian Government charge to visit the National Marine Park The Great Barrier Reef - A Port Charge, a fuel levy and a management fee.

Itinerary

7:45am - Boarding at Marlin Jetty (Complimentary coffee and tea served).
8:00am - 9:30-Depart Marlin Jetty, Cairns at Dolphin Speed.

10:30am - Reef video presentation, Snorkel and dive procedures, Reef Safety orientation.
10:45am - 1:30pm -Arrive Hastings Reef, Demonstration, Introductory and Certified Diving.
11:45pm - Glass bottom boat and snorkeling, Lunch.
3:45pm - Arrive Breaking Patches. Introductory and Certified diving, Snorkeling, Boom-netting.
5:30 - 6:00pm - Return Marlin Jetty, Cairns.


On departure it's time to hold on and enjoy the ride - lots of fun and bubbles with our Boom-netting. Cruising back to Cairns at Dolphin speed so keep an eye out for our dolphins as they surf along side most days, sit back, relax or socialise with new friends with a cold drink from our bar, on our spacious sundeck. View the days video and watch the sun go down on one of the seven natural wonders of the world as you enjoy complimentary wine, cheese & tropical fruits.
