Southern Ardeche Over the course of millions of centuries, the typical limestone of the Ardeche has formed one of the most beautiful landscapes in Southern France. Along the river you will drive to one of the numerous grottos of the area, such as the Grottes des Madeleines, which consists of more than 25 subterranean halls, or the Grotte Chauvet, which houses the oldest cave paintings in the world. Continuing your trip to one of the lavender producers in the Ardeche-area, you will be shown the different types and species of lavender, as well as their usage in medicine, decoration and perfume production. Finally, you return to your A-ROSA vessel for a late lunch. Price per person:

City walking tour Through small alleys, along past the numerous small city palaces, chapels and churches, this excursion will lead you to the famous Palais du Pape, which can be explored during an extensive tour. Each year in July, the allegedly largest theatre festival in the world takes place around the principal and most impressive landmark of the whole Provence. For about four weeks, the streets of Avignon turn into a colourful market of creativity. You pass the church of St. Agricol, continue your walk to the viewing point of Rocher des Domes, from where you can enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the Rhône valley and the famous Pont d'Avignon.

One of the oldest towns in France, it is widely praised for its high-quality silk products and its gastronomy. Take a walk through the old town, the so-called Vieux Lyon, which was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Have a look at the houses built in Italian Renaissance style, the Roman theatre and the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourviere. During a visit to an old silk printing shop you will be shown some essential information about the French silk industry, an industry that made Lyon rich and famous all over the world.
