Itinerary - Saturday departure
Saturday
- A late afternoon visit to Captain Cook
Cruises' private island of Tivua – a sanctuary
for breeding turtles - is your introduction to cruising
the Islands of Fiji. Swim, explore and relax before
our Welcome Dinner.
Sunday - Journey into the birthplace
of Fijian culture on the Sacred Island, where the
local chief has granted us exclusive access.
You can while away time with a midday swim, sunbathing
or drifting above the island’s coral reefs in
a glass-bottomed boat – there is great snorkelling
too. Late afternoon we cruise to Nalauwaki on Waya
Island for a special treat - a choral service in the
village church, and in the evening, entertainment
at our Fiji Show.
Monday
– Today we explore the islands, reefs
and bays of Waya - a South Pacific paradise where
volcanic peaks tower over palm fringed beaches. After
a morning of swimming and island exploration, deepen
your experience of Fijian village culture with a special
visit to the local school and handicraft market. This
evening enjoy the tastes of Fiji as Reef
Escape
hosts an earth oven lovo feast, village ‘meke’
and traditional kava ceremony.
Tuesday
- After breakfast we arrive at Denarau. Enjoy
free time in port or choose one of our complimentary
half day tours including a visit to the Gardens of
the Sleeping Giant and Nadi Bay Lunch Cruise or a
tall ship sailing adventure. This afternoon we depart
for Tivua Island.
Wednesday
- The day begins with a swim in the idyllic
waters off the Southern Yasawa Islands and a cruise
through the rugged volcanic peaks to Matacawalevu.
A special invitation from the Chief allows guests
to visit the local village and wander through the
shell and handicraft market. This evening’s
Pacific Island night is a festive celebration where
sulus (sarongs) and tropical shirts are the standard
attire.
Thursday
–Yasawa Island is everyone’s
tropical island dream - white beaches, turquoise seas
and coral reefs. A dawn hike to an island peak offers
spectacular views of the famed Tobu Karakarawa Blue
Lagoon - all that remains of an ancient limestone
cave system. The limestone composition gives the lagoon
it's famed
azure
colour while the jagged peaks of Sawa-I-lau grotto
stand at the lagoon’s entrance like an ancient
guardian. Enjoy a spectacular morning at the lagoon
or snorkel at the nearby reef before an al fresco
lunch on the top deck. This afternoon offers a special
visit to the local school where the children will
charm you with their smiles. And as evening draws
in, it is time for an unusual evening of fun and entertainment.
Friday
– Cruise through the Navititi Channels
to Drawaqa Island offering some of the best coral
reefs in Fiji. Swim, snorkel or take the glass-bottomed
boat over its fringing reefs, or bask on the warm
white sands. Enjoy a barbeque lunch on the top deck
before arriving at Yalobi Bay for more beach activities
and this
Saturday – Return to Denarau
in the morning.
