RV BENGAL PANDAW VESSEL INFORMATION

Formerly Pandaw IV and built in Myanmar, this delightful ship has 28 outside staterooms ( each 170 square feet ) over two decks. All rooms are air-conditioned with individual controls and have fitted windows with insect screens. There is also a mini-safe in each room. The bathrooms, for a ship his size, are roomy with granite basin tops and finisheh like the staterooms in rich brass and teak.
Pandaw Stateroom - Cruise Ship Cabin
The Pandaw stateroom is the most celebrated feature of our ships. Finished in brass and teak, the main and upper deck rooms are very spacious at 168 square feet (15.6 sqm). Much loved by all our passengers we have ensured that with each ship we build the stateroom remains the same. Our cabins do not have mini-bars, satellite TV’s, internet or phones. There is a 24 honesty bar on the sundeck. Pandaw passengers usually want to escape from the tiresome features found in international business hotels.

Many passengers describe life on board a Pandaw more like being a guest on a private motor yacht than a cruise ship. Where we go and what we see is intrepid in extreme. What you come back to is a floating base of discreet comfort, caring service and all the good things one looks for in life.

Bar and Dining - Cruise Ship Dining
The Pandaw dining rooms are designed to open up along the sides and only at night do we close them up and use air conditioning. We know our passengers want fresh air not chilled air.

We offer a great choice of local cuisine and exotic foods. We source supplies as locally as possible, given environmental health regulations. Breakfast and lunch are buffets and dinner is served at the tables. Passengers who do not like hot or spicy foods are offered European alternatives and vegetarians are well catered for. Our chefs know that the majority of passengers want to eat the best of each country they pass through.

Sailing on a Pandaw is essentially an outdoor experience. When sailing our passengers sit on deck and become absorbed by great panoramas as they unfold about them. Spellbound, one cannot help but to meditate upon the unceasing human and wildlife activity of these teaming water worlds.

External doors and the gauze windows should be kept closed at all times - day and night. At night, if on
deck or going ashore make sure to rub ankles and other exposed parts with repellent. However, outside
urban areas mosquito is less of a problem than other forms of insect life. Make sure to switch off lights
when leaving your cabin so as not to lure them in. Between January and March insects, but not mosquito, can be a real problem and invade the ship. Fortunately these are relatively harmless. Mosquito on the river, which is fast flowing, are rarely to be seen.

Moving About the Ship
Please be careful when moving about the decks, they can be slippery especially after rainfall. The stairs
on board may be stepper than you may be used to. It's best to always use the handrails.

River Conditions
There is much seasonal change in water level. Though the river can be wide, channels may be narrow and hard to follow. There is thus some risk of running aground on submerged sand banks and our captain has to take extreme care.

Ship’s office
The main office on the ships is on the Lower Deck but we found that passengers tended to forget its
existence. We have therefore located a 'front office' in the saloon bar where the Purser or his assistant is
on duty at set times to offer information or assistance. On our new ships (Orient and Indochina) built in 2008 the office will be located on upper deck mid ship.

Shop
We have a small boutique on board with a collection of locally made handicrafts. Post cards, stamps,
books, hygiene & cosmetic articles are available as well.
