The River Murray
Australia’s River Murray is one of the world’s legendary rivers, in fact, the fourth longest river system in the world. Mysterious, massive and meandering 3,700 kilometres, it ranks with the Mississippi, the Nile and the Amazon. Boasting some of the most spectacular and rugged Australian landscapes, the River Murray is home to an array of abundant wildlife and birdlife. It is aboard River of Australia Expeditions intimate cruising vessel, MV Expedition, that you can discover the River Murray's eco-system at its best.

MV Expedition
Operating 2 & 5 night cruises 365 days of the year, departing from Murray Bridge, just one hour out of Adelaide, The MV Expedition caters for a maximum of only 40 passengers, this boutique product provides the ideal environment for passengers to explore, experience, indulge and discover. The well appointed bar, lounge and dining area provides the perfect location for indulging in the culinary delights of the resident chef, while viewing the passing Australian scenery.

In the shallows of the River Murray, an exciting yet subtle transformation has quietly been taking place aboard the MV Proud Mary. The famous and well-loved river boat entered Australia’s most famous river on Monday, May 1 with a fresh look and a new name: MV Expedition.

The itinerary and tours offered by the MV Expedition will remain exactly the same as that offered by the former MV Proud Mary. Guests will enjoy the ecotourism experience of a lifetime against a backdrop of towering sandstone cliffs, sweeping skies, wildlife-filled lagoons, weeping willows and giant red gums of the River Murray.

Cuisine
Two chefs specialise in preparing modern Australian and European cuisine, using fresh local produce.Enjoy dining experiences from an Australiana Bush Barbeque on shore to a 5 course Captains Dinner.All of your meals are included in your cruise.

How to get there?
Departing only 1 hour from Adelaide return coach transfers are available to meet your MV Expedition cruise at Murray Bridge or Blanchetown. For self-drive passengers secure lockup garage facilities are available adjacent to the wharf at Murray Bridge.

Embarkation
Embarkation is from 7.30 pm at Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge on Fridays and Sundays. For passengers arriving earlier than 7.30 pm we ask that you assist us by not boarding the vessel prior to this time as our crew will be preparing the facilities for your comfort.

Coach Transfers - Please see the rates section of this website for costings (check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure for all coach transfers)

For passengers travelling by coach to connect with the MV Expedition in Murray Bridge, the River of Australia Expeditions coach departs from the Adelaide Central bus station (for directions please contact reservations 1800 677 683 or +618 8231 9472 ).

  • Friday and Sunday coach departure times from Adelaide for cruises departing from Murray Bridge - 6:30pm

  • Friday and Sunday coach arrival times into Adelaide for cruises disembarking in Murray Bridge - 5:45pm


For passengers travelling by coach to connect with the MV Expedition in Murray Bridge, the Premier Stateliner coach departs from the Adelaide Central bus station (for directions please contact reservations 1800 677 683 or +618 8231 9472 ).

  • Tuesday coach departure times from Adelaide for cruises departing from Blanchetown - 5:30pm

  • Tuesday coach arrival times in Adealide for cruises disembarking in Blanchetown - 9:10pm

Arriving by car - to join the MV Expedition
Travelling from Adelaide, South Australia to Murray Bridge - Take the South Eastern freeway out of Adelaide to the Murray Bridge exit. Carry on into Murray Bridge and turn right at the third set of traffic lights. This is East Street with the Bridge Port Hotel on the corner. Follow the signs to ‘Sturt Reserve’ and park in the Community Club Car Park.

Travelling from the Australian Eastern States to Murray Bridge - After travelling through Tailem Bend take the Murray Bridge exit and continue onto the township over the bridge. Take the 1st left once off the bridge. This is East Street with the Bridge Port Hotel on the corner. Follow the signs to ‘Sturt Reserve’ and park in the Community Club Car Park
