| This
delightful vessel, the first of its kind, was commissioned
specifically for sailing on the narrow and curvy Kwai Noi
River. Built in Burma by the renowned Irrawaddy Shipping
Company, the MV Kwai boasts all of the features that have
made the Burma ships famous throughout the world. Featuring
modern navigational equipment as well as a full time tugboat
pilot, the ship is able to circumvent the narrow passages,
90 degree bends and shallow waters, all previously thought
to be insurmountable.
Elongated and
with a shallow draft, the ship has only 2 decks – a
main passenger deck with 10 cabins/20 beds and an open
air upper deck covered with a removable
awning. All the cabins (as well as the whole vessel overall)
are accented with original Burmese teakwood lending the
ship a special warmth and luxurious feel. All cabins face
outwards with views through sliding glass doors. All have
two comfortable lower berths, a full private bathroom with
separate large tiled shower stall, plenty of closet and
drawer space (under the beds), individual remote controlled
air conditioning units, robes, slippers and a daily dose
of bottled water per passenger.*Mini-refrigerators are
scheduled to be added for 2006.
The upper deck is the focal point of the vessel. Divided
into three sections, the ship has plentiful lounge chairs
for sunning and relaxing. A self-standing bar and music
center is surrounded with comfortable lounge chairs and
tables for enjoying a cocktail. The last part of the deck
is reserved for 4 to 6 beautifully decorated dining tables.
All the meals are held outside with a full buffet breakfast
buffet or sit down lunch and a sit down candlelit dinner
each evening. A crew of 10 and a multi-lingual Cruise Director/Local
Guide (Mr. Somalux) complement the ship with casual, warm
and friendly service. Ship expenses are signed for and
paid at the end. Only MasterCard and Visa Credit Cards
are accepted.
