When
you think of Russia, two cities come to mind—Moscow
and St. Petersburg. During this journey you spend multiple
days and nights in both cities, touring such landmarks
as Moscow’s Kremlin and Red Square as well as Pushkin,
Peter & Paul Fortress and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
But, there is another side of Russia that a river cruise
can take you to visit—the culture-filled villages
and quaint towns along the Waterways of the Czars—Yaroslavl,
Uglich and Kizhi. You see grand monuments and opulent palaces,
discover fortified monestaries and beautiful cathedrals,
and experience the history and culture of this amazing
country—all from the comfort of your ship.

Note: Category
CS and DS are single cabins. Category DS only available
on Viking Lomonosov. 11-day/10-night itinerary operates
in the reverse; port order and tour sequence may vary.
All tours listed are included, however there is one less
day in St. Petersburg. A NOTE REGARDING OUR RUSSIA CRUISE:
Tourism is relatively new in Russia. Due to the lack of
a strong tourism infrastructure in Russia, you will probably
experience conditions that are not of the same standard
you would expect in Western Europe. While the cost of goods
and services is often as high as in Western Europe, the
quality may not be of the same standard. Please be aware
that our Russian ships are less deluxe than our more modern
European and China fleet. Although Russian ships are older,
they are the most deluxe ships sailing in this area and
are regularly renovated. Because ships in Russia must be
built to ocean-going standards due to the large lakes and
reservoirs through which they sail, it is economically
prohibitive to build new ships at this time; therefore
you will find that this type and age of ship is typical
in these areas. Note also that cabins and bathrooms are
smaller, and the bathroom has a nautical-style sink with
pullout shower-head. This is typical for this destination.
The ships, their crew and onboard services meet the same
high standards that we demand on all our American products.
Viking River Cruises is the only Western owned and managed
fleet operating in Russia. We make every effort to provide
you with a wonderful experience within these parameters,
and trust that the excitement and adventure of traveling
through fascinating, seldom-visited country will more than
make up for any minor inconvenience you might encounter.
All passengers traveling to Russia require a visa. It is
the passenger’s responsibility to obtain any required
visa and/or documents prior to departure. Please allow
approximately 4-6 weeks for processing. Due to airline
schedules beyond the control of Viking River Cruises, flights
to/from Russia may require a hotel overnight. Viking River
Cruises can assist with hotel reservations, but any associated
costs for the overnight will be at the passenger’s
expense. Fountains at Peterhof Palace may not be operating
early or late in the season due to cold weather conditions.
The Moscow Circus travels during late September/October
and may schedule other out-of-town performances with little
notice. A different performance will be substituted. Schedules
and activities are subject to change depending upon river
water levels, port accessibility, and weather conditions.
Tours often include walks over cobblestones, steps and
uneven ground; for passenger safety and enjoyment, we recommend
you be in good physical condition to participate fully
in all tours. For safety reasons, sun deck access may be
limited during times of high water levels/low bridge clearance.
